Cristina TorresASL Interpreter

My journey as a sign language interpreter began at home when I was very young because I have six brothers and sisters who are Deaf. As such, sign language has always been a huge part of my life. I wanted to become an interpreter because I grew up in a home with immigrant parents and witnessed the struggles my parents experienced with their own lack of access to information and communication, as well as that of my Deaf siblings. Although growing up in this environment wasnā€™t always easy, it has led me to do the work that I do, which I think is vital to improving inclusivity in our communities.
