Over the past 40 years, Jay Nolan Community Services has been a leader in meeting the needs of people with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities. Lloyd Nolan, actor in Hollywood for over four decades, was one of the first celebrities to announce that his son, Jay, had autism. The Autism Society of Los Angeles expressed need for an agency to be established that focused on the needs of children and adults with autism. Thus in 1975, JNCS was established.

In 1993, JNCS was the first organization in the United States to transform its services from the provision of very traditional services (group homes, day programs, etc.) to more personalized and individualized supports. Today, JNCS remains as one of the only programs in the United States to effectively provide those services in a personalized and individualized manner to over four hundred people with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities.

For the past 22 years, Jay Nolan Community Services worked towards assisting every adult with autism to live in their own homes, for adults with autism to have real jobs in the community, and for all people with autism to have friends and other positive relationships. JNCS has worked hard to help support valued lives in the community alongside their non-disabled counterparts.

Real lives ā€“ Meaningful lives for all people has been our mandate, our vision. JNCS will continue to work hard in helping achieve a more meaningful life for every person with autism spectrum disorder.
